In continuing with our “Hot Spots for Summer” the next stop is the Old Town Alexandria Waterfront. On a beautiful summer day when it’s warm but there is a nice breeze what could be better than taking in the sights and sounds and one of the most historic places? Resting on the historic banks of the Potomac River, the Alexandria Waterfront offers views of the National Harbor, the Washington Monument, and the recently added Capital Wheel .
Peruse down King St. either by foot or on the King St. trolley (free of charge) and check out the various vendors and all they have to offer. Looking for some place fun to visit? Check out the Torpedo Factory Art Center. This is not your ordinary art museum. Enjoy floors of crafty works of art displayed in very creative ways. Hungry? Don’t worry there are plenty of restaurants to choose from to satisfy whatever you’re in the mood for. If it’s really warm out, and you’ve saved room for dessert, treat yourself to some homemade ice cream at Pop’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Company on King Street. Whether you decide to explore the Farmer’s market or spend all day at the seaport, whatever you decide to do it will be a day well spent. For more information click here.
